Recorded music is not very worshipful to me. Most churches focus on worship. KH is to receive orders. It is hard to articulate.

The insensitivity and opportunistic nature of witness at the 9/11 site !
by stuckinarut2 ini saw an online post with pictures of all the witnessing carts all around the 9/11 site during the anniversary of the tragedy.... im appalled at how opportunistic they are, and how they prey on people in a mourning and vulnerable state!.
apparantly they boast of: "there are 65 carts, with 200 witnesses manning the area... and so far 15 new studies started!".

I can't pretend that I had no affiliation with the Witnesses. My hunch is that my neighbors will see the opportunism. New York is not thick with fundamentalism.
I wonder, though, how people whose emotions are stirred up, will respond to a love bomb.

Ehrman's blog: Reported public appearances of JESUS in the Modern World
by Terry infrom bart ehrman's blog under the heading of:.
jesus' appearances in the modern world.
of particular interest are instances in which jesus is said to have appeared to entire groups of people, rather than just to an individual.

Band on the Run
I recall that Jesus appears on a slice of toast, tomato. etc, My high school classmates attended a Pentecoastal. Jesus made an appearance. He was on the altar. My eyes were riveted on the altar. I saw nothing but the altar. No one could give me a physical description.

Not on JW.ORG : San Francisco court orders Catholic workers to attend Jehovah's Witness meeting. Will Jehovah's Witnesses now be ordered to Catholic Churches?
by Balaamsass2 incatholic workers ordered to attend jehovahs witness meetingseptember 8, 2014 by mary maria leave a comment.
san francisco, california in an interesting case of religious rights in the workplace, the 9th circuit court of appeals has ruled that employees of the san gabriel/pomona regional center must attend services from the kingdom hall of the jehovahs witnesses.
the protestant church is not exactly known for its ecumenical cooperation or respect for the catholic church which it often decries as being a supreme object over the whole earth that rhymes with the word lore.. at issue is a five year dispute brought on by catholic employees who care for a disabled man at the facility.

I believe this summary has some problems with it. Both sides have merit. The disabled man should receive accomodations so he can worship the church of his choice. When I active decades ago, the Witnesses were always knocking the RC. Much of what they said, I took at faith, only to subsequently learn that the Witnesses were not reporting the RC accurately. In my house, it was made worse by father's antiRC faith which I attribute to Bethel. I would not want RC people to hear what the Witnesses lie. An appeals court will probably decide.

Band on the Run
Yes. Of course, I left during crucial years of development. My inner self bloomed. I still become furious with authority figures. The subjugation of women is good luck. I always was a feminist and worked for the NOW Legal Defense Fund on two or three landmark gender cases before the U.S. Supreme cases. Men note that I am a feminist when it works for me and not so fervent when a traditional stance would work to my benefit. It hurts that my family became involved with the JWs. I became more a traditional but that could be the impact of law school and practice. My social skills are much better. It took hard work.

I get so tired of people always bringing up "Black on Black" crime.
by booker-t ini am responding to a post by someone the other day about a black girl beaten by a mob of other black teens for "acting too white.
" the poster was trying to drive home the idea black people commit more crimes against themselves then white people do to them.
while it is true some black people do insult other black people who they believe are trying to fit in with caucasian people, white people, hispanics, asians, and other races do the same exact thing to people in their ethnic group as well.

Band on the Run
Black on black crime is true. It could also be low class on low class white. When I became upper middle class, I could clearly see how law enforcement mattered. The police gave me an exact cobtribution to the Mayor's Office for my neighborhood to have prostitution removed. Statistics prove it.

A rose by any other name..............
by sparrowdown ini'm curious, why and how did you choose your username?.
does it hold any special significance for you, is there a share-able back story?.
for me sparrowdown is a playful reference to matt 10:29 and the title of the movie black hawk down.. matt 10:29 was my go-to scrip to "prove" that god cares about us as individuals.

Band on the Run
I wanted something Beatles related There wasn't time to think about it. Band on the Run was difficult after the Great Divorce. It was the first post Beatles tune that I really like. I woke up early one morning and decided to play the album and turned it up all the way. The downstairs neighbor was not pleased. I knew it was wrong and I played it anyway. I wrote an apology letter.

Observations from a day at the zoo
by Simon inso we went to calgary zoo today and i'm torn between zoo's being great for conservation vs using animals to make money.
i think on the whole they are a good thing but it's sad to see some of the animals caged up - somehow i always end up staring into the eyes of a gorilla and it makes me sad.. but that isn't what struck me ... it's these things:.

Band on the Run
There was an incident many years ago. While I was ill, I frequently walked in Central Park. The Central Park Zoo was horrible. Anything that went private/public has been a success. I walked past the polar bears. Their quarters were filthy. I identified with them. Two weeks later, one of the polr bears went bokers. He would not eat or sleep. All he did was swim in his enclosure. The mayor rushed to the scene. The Bronx Zoo people arrived. Polar bear experts from Europe arrived. The poor bear was reacting to lack of stimulation. He could not be flown to the North b/c he spent too many years in ccaptivity. He was given toys to play games with his keeper. For obvious reasons, he could not walk around Manhattan and eat humans. Under the new rules, he had fresh meat that he had to hunt for every day. There were plastic ice floes. The city turned over the keys to the park to the Bronx Zoo.
Oh, people listened by radio. New Yorkers swarmed into the park to check out the bear. Thousands took from work to see the poor bear.

I alarmed about the worship of Steve Hassan on this site. I read his name so much I ordered his books. The work was light weight. He can't be the only person who specializes in cults. I did feel he was describing the Witness life. Maybe he wanted to be light weight. Steve Hassan and Bart Ehrman-the light weights. I did not finish the books. It may not be the quality of the books as much as the worship.
